King of Pop Dies

Michael Jackson, the self-anointed king of pop who 750 million records over his career and enjoyed worldwide adoration died in June 2009 due to cardiac arrest at the age of 50.
The death brought a tragic end to a long, bizarre, sometimes farcial decline from his peak in the 1980s. when he was popular music's foremost performer. He was preparing for what would be a series of 50 concerts starting in July at London which he and his fans hoped would restore his tarnished legacy to his proper place in pop.
Jackson ranked alongside Elvis Presley and the Beatles as the biggest pop sensation of all time. He was briefiy married to Presley's daughter, Lisa Marie Jackson's sudden death immediately evoked comparisons to that of presley himself, who died at age 42 in 1977. His 1982 album 'Thirller' is the best-selling album of all time, with an estimated 50 million copies sold worldwide.
